Life If you address the symptoms of your life, health and relationship issues, they will continue. That's why we prefer to identify the roots, then dismantle them according to biblical principles. Then, the symptoms will eventually go away.
Health Do you know one of the most preferred ways to distract a person? It is to inflict pain, illness or addictions in your physical body. This includes mental illnesses. That's why you’ll find information and products about health, the human body and what the Bible has to say about disease and illness on this site. Inclusive is life-changing information about the biblical roots of disease and illness. Be In Health Global owns this information and is gracious enough to allow it to be shared on this site.
Relationships My goodness, every day we have the opportunity to improve our relationships. The question is do we have the desire, the mental capacity and the willingness to give it another try. The other question is since what we've tried hasn't worked to improve our relationships, what should we do differently? Might we suggest learning how to identify the roots behind the issue -- that is what you can't see with the natural eye.
How We at Healed People, Heal People facilitate the healing process by offering personal ministry, group ministry, consulting, educational teachings and training. Our training was at Restoring The Foundations International, Be In Health Global and Pure Herbs Ltd.
Roots How do we identify the roots of life, health or relationship issues? First, we asses what happened generationally in your life and family; this contributes to your issue. Second, we present what you really believe about yourself, what you really believe about others and what you really believe about God that does not align with the truth of the Bible; this contributes to your issue. And please know that most people rarely know what beliefs they operate out of daily that is contributing to them being trapped in the same life, health and relationship issues. Next, you need to receive healing for who and what has caused pain in your life; this keeps your issue in place.
Joy We've had the privilege of seeing the Holy Spirit positively change lives on every continent using simple, biblical healing and deliverance. Be encouraged to browse the site to participate in the forums, listen to healing music or consider supporting this marketplace ministry. Your life, health, and relationships and can change for the better!

As atrocious and inhumane as slavery was, this Senate resolution was not mentioned on one major news television outlet in America.
The U.S. Senate on Thursday, June 18, 2009, passed a resolution apologizing to African-Americans for the wrongs of slavery. The nonbinding resolution sponsored by Senator Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, is similar to a House resolution adopted in 2008 that acknowledged the wrongs of slavery but offered no reparations.
The House will have to vote on the issue again because the composition of that chamber changed after the November 2008 elections. The resolution was approved on a voice vote.
Because it is nonbinding, it does not have to be forwarded to the President of the United States for his signature. Several states have passed similar resolutions, but the House resolution was the first time a branch of the federal government did so.
Harkin's resolution acknowledges the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery, and Jim Crow laws, and apologizes to African-Americans on behalf of the people of the United States for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws.
Jim Crow laws were state and local laws enacted mostly in U.S. Southern and border states between the 1870s and 1965 that denied African-Americans the right to vote and other civil liberties, as well as legally segregated them from whites.
Some members of the African-American community have called on lawmakers to give cash payments or other financial benefits to descendants of slaves as compensation for the suffering caused by slavery.

If you are going to do business with God, the currency is forgiveness.
Hello Beloved reader. I decided to write this unforgiveness article for you because it helped me. A few months back I attended an open-to-the-public ministry session where these questions were asked. I think many of us Christians were surprised at how many times we answered yes. Remember now – be honest with yourself. No one will see your paper but you.
Unforgiveness is one of the most powerful enemies in the body of Christ today. Do you know how many illnesses or infirmities are directly related to unforgiveness? One thing all people who are called to work in healing and deliverance should know when dealing with illnesses is to learn if the person standing or sitting before them has an issue with unforgiveness.
It is critical to learn if there is a single person that they’ve not forgiven. It is necessary to ask the person when exactly in their life were they diagnosed with the illness. Proceed to ask the person what life events were going on at or near that time. Often, the following are typical responses a person might give.
I've experienced betrayal. I lost my job and the boss could have let another person go because I was there longer. These are two of many reasons any person could share as to why they’ve not forgiven someone.
Now listen, beloved reader, do you know that sometimes people have instantly been healed of their infirmity on the spot once this unforgiveness has been taken care of spiritually. Keep in mind this is one of four things that must be addressed in an integrated healing & deliverance ministry session.
Will you get out a piece of paper and a pen, pretty please? Now, read the statements below. Each time the statement is true for you, make a check mark on your paper. Once you’re done reading each statement on the unforgiveness stronghold, you’ll talley up your score.
Answer these unforgiveness questions honestly
1) I find myself holding grudges.
2) I retreat into isolation from others.
3) I erupt in anger or I boil inside.
4) I think of ways to get even with others who hurt me.
5) I just bury the wrongs done to me without really addressing them.
6) I pity myself.
7) I carry bitterness and anger towards those who have hindered me or willfully, purposely wronged me.
8) Instead of stating the truth, I make excuses for those who wronged or hurt me.
9) I often feel sorry for myself.
10) Occasionally I think I truly am some kind of martyr.
11) Nobody has had it as bad as me.
12) I want to get even with people who’ve cause me pain.
13) I insulate or protect myself behind the walls of defensiveness.
14) I don’t trust others.
15) I just can’t forgive [which really is you want forgive].
16) I’m anger with God for allowing bad things to happen to me.
17) I act like nothing happen instead of confronting issues that have hurt me.
18) I can’t get over my past.
Please talley up your check marks to see how you scored.
If you have 1 – 4 check marks, you’re in the lower percentile [25%] of operating in unforgiveness.
If you have 5 – 9 check marks, you’re in the middle percentile [50%] of operating in unforgiveness. This is average for most Christians. Now, we all know what the Bible clearly states about any unforgiveness, right? So even if you scored in the lowest percentile, it needs to be taken care of.
If you have 10 – 14 check marks, you’re in the upper percentile [75%] of operating in unforgiveness. Yep, you betcha – this sure enough has to be addressed because you’re in bondage beloved.
If you have 15 or more check marks, you very likely have the stronghold of unforgiveness. If you don’t know how to break this stronghold and remove the demons holding it in place in your life, learn or go receive ministry please. What book would I suggest that’s a must read, Biblical Healing & Deliverance: An Integrated Approach to Biblical Healing Ministry by Chester & Betsy Kylstra.
Beloved reader, you already know the key to forgiveness is releasing the debt. By forgiving, you are not justifying what the person did to you is okay. By forgiving, you are not minimizing the devastating impact what they did has had on your life.
Well, here's the age old question – why is it that it’s so darn hard to forgive some things, some people. It is because the one time hurt or the repeated hurt has wounded your soul or wounded your spirit or wounded both. Usually the hurt(s), even though they can’t be seen, have really crippled you inside. The crippling could be mentally and/or emotionally and/or physically. Some hurts have downright debilitated some of us to the point that illness occurs.
And if we're transparent here, not forgiving the person make some Christians they have a [false] sense of power over the person [especially if the person wants to be forgiven]. As long as we choose to not forgive any person for any thing, we literally carry that person with us daily. What do I mean? You have a shackle attached to a ball-and-chain at the bottom of your ankle.
The weighted ball-and-chain is directly attached to each person you've not forgiven. You literally carry their body weight around with you all day long. In the shower, to bed with you, in the car with you, to the grocery store with you. More importantly, you carry those you've not forgiven with you mentally and emotionally every day, which is yet another reason you're weighted down internally. Although we still respond to people saying, "We're fine, blessed, highly favored."
So beloved reader – we’re at a crossroads here. The Bible says to forgive and that forgiveness is non-negotiable. Well yeah, this is true. What’s been learned in integrated healing & deliverance is sometimes we first have to have the Holy Spirit take care of the hurts at every spiritual and emotional level before the forgiveness can even be approached. And in very extreme cases, the forgiveness takes times, like in layers, which is better than not at all.
Please know if you are a person who works in ministry or if you are a leader of any kind, people will violate you. You cannot afford to allow this unforgiveness to place you in bondage. Let’s look at Joseph’s life in the Bible. He had so many reasons to not forgive his brothers. What did Joseph do [Genesis 39]? He stayed before the Lord, and yes, he forgave his family. Even though Joseph was a grown man, he sobbed like a child.
What is forgivness?
Is a spiritual decision to release the person, entity, institution or group who hurt you, betrayed you
Is cancelling someone from the consequence of falling short of God’s standard in your life
Is releasing resentment toward the very person who exacted very real hurt on you
Is dismissing our demand that the person owes us something
Is releasing the right to be bitter
Is releasing the right to get even
Is of God
Is releasing the right to hear the words, “I’m sorry.”
Is an act of our spiritual will
Is a process especially for those who’ve been abused/deeply hurt
What forgiveness is not
Is not a feeling
Is not an emotion
Is not being a doormat
Is not conditional
Is not stuffing your anger
Is not based on what’s fair
Is not excusing the wrong done to you
Is not justifying the wrong done to you
Is not you executing God’s wrath
Is not repentance
Is not based on what a person deserves
Is not you waiting for time to heal all wounds
Is not reconciliation [requires a minimum of two people] [forgiveness only requires 1 person]
Is not enablement [a form of people pleasing and repeatedly having no boundaries]
Is not letting the guilty off the hook, you are placing them on God’s hook
Is not denying that the wrong happened to you
The characteristics of an unforgiver
Danger - If you persist in resisting and disobeying God by being unforgiving [or whatever the sin is], you can eventually to given over to the influence of evil, satan and immorality. Acts 7:42
does not agree with God that sin is sin
delayed or even the prevention of spiritual growth
heart is turned away from God
go through verbal acts of repentance
an unforgiver often has diseases & functionally sick
is limited in hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit
an unforgiver can have psychological problems
an unforgiver can be a person laden with stress
elevate yourself above your offender
you’re emotionally stuck to your offender
you share negative information about offender
automatically open the door to satan and his demons
a hardened heart, a condemning heart
tend to be verbally abusive
blind that you’re becoming like your offender
an unforgiver ages faster
being an unforgiver affects your body’s ability to fight disease by weakening your immune system
an unforgiver can have emotional instability – fly off the handle easily or show very little emotion
Define the spirit of unforgivness, which is a stronghold
A simple word to describe this spirit of unforgiveness – hurt, a person who is deeply hurt.
A spirit of unforgiveness goes beyond temporary unwillingness to forgive.
The spirit of unforgiveness is a spiritual acid that eats through the spirit within us.
The spirit of unforgiveness is a supernatural cancer that slowly and deliberately eats you up.
There is a long time period between the time you are hurt and the time you forgive the person who hurt you.
When does unforgiveness become a stronghold?
When you refuse to forgive and the unresolved anger develops a fortified place in your mind and heart; you become mentally captive to do the enemy’s will. Ephesians 6:16
The three parts of forgiveness
Part 1 |Horizontal line of The Cross -- Forgiving others and others forgiving you
Especially needed toward family and church members because this is where most hurts come from
Part 2 | Vertical line of The Cross -- Receiving God forgiveness and us releasing God
Part 3 | Circle or halo where The Cross intersects -- Forgiving yourself and receiving forgiveness from self
Why do Christians have the most difficulty forgiving themselves than any other person?
Lie no. 1 - Sin we committed, the offense is too big to forgive
Lie no. 2 - We knew better and committed the sin anyway
Lie no. 3 - It’s a habitual sin and we continue to do it, it doesn’t deserve grace
Lie no. 4 - We’re so shamed by the sin, we should not exchange the shame for forgiveness
Lie no. 5 – You believe you don’t deserve forgiveness because of who you are
Here, it’s effective to say your own name.
For example, “Your name goes right here, I forgive myself for ____.”
So why do you not forgive when you know to do so
What was done to you or by you was too big
The hurt was planned, intentional and/or repeated
No modeling of forgiveness from our parents
They didn’t forgive me, I will not forgive them
You deny it never happened
Don’t understand God’s forgiveness
You believe the lie that bitterness is a normal response because God knows how you feel.
The pain is so deep [even though it may be simple to others] you just don’t know where to begin.
It is here where you allow the Holy Spirit to heal the pain completely first, then you’re able to forgive.
How does unforgiveness affect your prayer life?
blessings are withheld from us
our prayer life is blocked
we are spiritually dim
God doesn’t forgive us
God resists you
What is unforgiveness?
unforgiveness is a form of pride
is of satan and his demons
grieves the Holy Spirit
showcases a godless heart
keeps us in bondage to sin
is an offense to God, which makes us an offender to God

Audio Teaching | Why We Fight With Those We Love
You're all too familiar with how we can sometimes be kinder to people we don't know -- at work, at church and in the community -- than we sometimes are to our own family, children, siblings and spouse.
Why? Because they know more about us than anyone. And, yeah, sometimes they tend to not forget even when we've confessed and the Lord has forgiven us. The consequence -- quarrels and fights that others are usually exposed to. Darn.
Please click the audio file above [where the blue text is] and download this pdf, Why Do We Fight With Those We Love, that includes study notes with scriptures to accompany the audio. Thank you for taking your time to listen to this audio and work through the study notes. If you're not a member of Healed People, Heal People, we invite you to join for free here. Herbs are plant food substances. This is not a scientific definition, it is a practitioners definition. It is used by the people who make recommendations about how to build better health naturally. Herbs have been used since people began eating. They are not new and they were used long before there were people who called themselves doctors or scientists and they worked and they still do.
There is a solution to every physical problem. It was meant to be that way. It is not experimental. Since there are so many physical differences between us, it stands to reason one herb may do more for a certain person than another but do not despair. There is an herb for you too. Often there are many herbs that are especially helpful for you, just waiting, to be discovered.
Luckily when eating an herb if the wrong one is taken, nothing much happens and if you do eat too much of it, body mechanisms usually reject it and you leave it alone.Part of the fun is discovering your herb or herbs and in the process an acquaintance with herbs that help other people is gained.
One of the ways to tell what an herb will do is to taste a little of it. This is much easier to do with a liquid herb than a tablet or a capsule but in any case it should be done before you ask anyone else to try an herb so it will at least be known if what the label says is in the bottle, is in the bottle.
Please accept this offer to build better health naturally. The information was written because you are respected and appreciated, and loved. Someone does care about you and would like to see you well. Herbs are your birthright. Discover yours. - Dr. A.B. Howard
Do you take prescription meds?
Does someone you love take prescription meds?
Did you know prescription meds is the leading cause of death in America?
THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN AMERICA: CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE
Cause of death
9/11 terrorist attacks - 2,986 killed
Chernobyl nuclear accident - 4,000 killed
Murders each year - 16,000
Americans killed in Vietnam war - 58,226
Americans killed by Vioxx - 60,000
Americans killed by prescription drugs (each year) - 106,000
Americans killed by conventional medicine (each year) - 783,936
(page 99-112) “How dangerous are prescription drugs, really? The FDA insists they’re safe enough for widespread consumption, even when one drug, all by itself, has killed more Americans than the Vietnam War.
The truth is that the vast majority of prescription drugs are not compatible with human biology. Rather then working to support human biology, they typically attempt to hijack the body’s biochemistry to achieve a desired measurable result, and a silent massacre is enacted on the people.

Licorice Root
Licorice root is sweet, somewhere between 4 to 50 times sweeter than cane sugar without the calories and does not increase thirst. Licorice root can be so sweet, it has a bitter taste unless diluted. It is a specific for low blood sugar symptoms. If a person is not feeling up to par and has a habit of eating white flour products or sugar products, it is safe to assume they would benefit by taking licorice root. Powered licorice held on the tongue and allowed to dissolve coats the throat to relieve sore throat. The Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used licorice to combat the ravages of stress. When battle troops in the quest to conquer the world experienced stress, this was their mainstay.
People today also experience stress. Licorice root is a remedy for stress, be it from interpersonal relationships, allergies, or lack of energy. Licorice root feeds the energy and hormone manufacturing glands known as the adrenals. As such, they are able to bring the entire system into better balance and promote well-being. When the need occurs for hormones, for either the male or female system, licorice provides the building blocks for the adrenals to make these hormones. This is especially efficacious for women who have had a hysterectomy, to prevent the discomforts of hormone imbalance.

Sage
The Old English experience states, there is no need to die if sage is in the garden. The strong, aromatic, camphorous ordor along with the warm, mild bitter taste, has made sage a favorite as flavoring for soups and seasonings. Much is made today of hair color, so for those who desire no gray hair, sage with rosemary as a rinse, and taken internally will restore and preserve hair color.
However, with continued use, the hair may be somewhat darker than the original color. Indeed, falling hair loss [where the root is not destroyed] and dandruff can be remedied with teh extract massaged into the scalp.
Sage is a great regulator for sexual activity. Excessive desire, as well as enfeebled ability are both normalized. In taking enough sage internally to care for hair, this side effect of normalized sexual activity may also be noted. As of yet, no complaints have been reported with these oblongata [brain stalk] provides us with remedial action for breathing, heart and blood pressure problems.
For those who use their voice singing or public speaking, sage is a remedy for laryngitis and produces a strong voice. Many recorded cases of periodic depression have been lifted by continued use, as depression can occur in many cases due to physical problems.
Dose: 20 to 40 drops two times per day. As a rinse for the hair, one part extract to four parts water.

NATURAL HERB NO. 10 FOR DEPRESSION
Universal ER's
Universal E.R. [Universal Emotional Remedy] This remedy is composed of rarified plant and wild flower essences. We owe the origin of the preparation and use of these herbs to relieve tormenting emotional states to Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician from the first half of the 20th century. This composite remedy is composed of those elements he found to be effective for many common, undesirable emotional states.
Universal E.R.'s basic support combination is designed as he stated, ... for shock, panic, mental stress and tension, desperation, inattention and unconsciousness.
Universal E.R. contains, in addition to the basic support combination, willow [for] resentment, holly [for] hatred, jealousy, suspicion, crab apple [for] cleansing [emotionally and physically] and honeysuckle [for] dwelling on thoughts of the past."
The history of the origin of these remedies tells us that Dr. Bach put himself through the entire gamut of different emotional torments. He remained in each one of those tormenting states until he was satisfied he had found an exact remedy from the rarified essence of a specific wild flower or plant that pulled him back out of it. He then used these Bach Flower Essences with his patients and got good results. As Dr. Bach's experience grew, he wrote down the procedures for the preparation of his remedies, advised on their use, and freely gave them to the world so others could enjoy their benefits. Dr. Bach's instructions as to the preparation and use of these remedies are very exact. With them goes the expectation and desire of helping others in torment. Because of the rarified nature of these wild flower and plant essences, there is no need to fear an allergic reaction or addiction, and may therefore be freely used by adult and child alike.
This combination includes the following natural herbs: support group, willow, holly, crab apple, honeysuckle.
Dose: Familiarity with Dr. Bach's suggestions indicate taking 3 drops, 4 times per day. A good way to establish this routine is to take them before mealtimes (even if three meals per day are not eaten) and before bedtime. Take on or under tongue or rub into pulse points such as temples, wrist or side of neck. Dr. Bach assured us that the remedies must be taken faithfully, even if the need is not felt. An accumulating affect can be built up in this way, and one day the remedy will no longer be needed.
Note: If an attack of the nerves should occur, put 12 drops in a cup of water or juice and sip slowly until the feeling lifts. If the person is unconscious, then rub the remedy, every few seconds, across the lips until conscious.

You hear a lot about forgiveness and how we need to release those who have sinned against us. But what if the person you need to forgive is yourself? What if you can’t move forward because of something you know you’ve done wrong and it haunts you? When taking people through biblical, integrated healing and deliverance it's been learned over decades that the most difficult thing for people to do is forgive themselves.
There are always three parts to forgiveness: 1) forgiving others and others forgiving you; 2) forgiving or really releasing God [cause many of us are ticked off at the Lord and just afraid to admit it; it's okay you can admit it, you will not be sinning or loose your space in line to get into heaven]; and 3) forgiving yourself.
Satan speaks many lies to us that simply are not true. So what does he speak? He says the following lies to us.
a) What I did so such a big sin the Lord cannot forgive it.
b) I knew better and still did it, so it's not forgivable.
c) I've continued to repeat this same behavior and I'm so ashamed, I just can't ask for forgiveness again.
d) I've downed others and have now done what I said I wouldn't do. I'm a terrible person.
Remember, that these four things I wrote above are lies from satan. And the Bible clearly repeats that the father of lies is satan. So I encourage you today to release yourself from false guilt and accept the forgiveness that is available for you today.
Cry in private if you need to and wail out your pain. Write yourself a letter to get it mentally out of your head. Speak the words out loud saying you forgive yourself and ask the Holy Spirit to supernaturally work the self-forgiveness down into the granules and crevices of your hurting, almost numb, heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring life, no abundant life, into your heart, mind and life.

What is a demon?
Demons have distinct and unique personalities just like human beings. Remember that neither satan nor his demon spirits are things. Neither should they be taken lightly. Demons are beings who have all the normally accepted marks of personality: they possess will, intelligence, emotion, self-awareness, and the ability to speak.
Satan is the leader of all demons. Because satan is prideful, his demons follow his lead, which means all demons have a degree of pride like their leader. Demons even compete against one another while operating in your life. The name of the demon reveals its characteristics or manifestations. See the following examples.
Lucifer - Isaiah 14:12
Prince of the power of the air - Ephesians 2:2
Ruler of the demons - Matthew 12:24
Destroyer - I Corinthians 10:10
Angel of light - II Corinthians 11:14
Serpent of old - Revelation 20:2
Great dragon - Revelation 12:9
Devil - Revelation 12:9
Wicked one - Matthew 13:19
Father of lies - John 8:44
Murderer - John 8:44
The following are examples of the characteristics of demons in the Bible.
Here the demon exercises his will, a 1st characteristic In Matthew 12:44, the demon who has gone out of a man says, "I will return to my house from which I came." The demon here exercises its will to make a decision, and then follows it up with the corresponding action.
Here the demon shows emotion, a 2nd characteristic In James 2:19 it reads “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe - and tremble!" Trembling is an outward mark of strong emotion. Derek Prince writes that at times he has seen a demonized person, who when confronted with the authority of Christ, began to tremble violently. This may be an outward manifestation of fear of the demon inside.
Here the demon shows intellect, a 3rd characteristic Demons have knowledge not derived from natural sources, rather evil sources. The first time Jesus confronted a demonized man in the synagogue in Capernaum, the demon spoke out of the man and said in Mark 1:24, "I know who You are - the Holy One of God!" It was more than a year before Jesus' own disciples began to realize what this demon had discerned immediately.
Here the demon shows self awareness, a 4th characteristic When Jesus asked the demonized man in the country of the Gadarenes in Mark 5:9, "What is your name?" a demon answered on behalf of itself and the other demons, "My name is Legion; for we are many." The demon was aware of both its own identity and that of the other demons occupying this man.
Here the demon shows their ability to speak vocally, a 5th characteristic In the first three gospels and also in Acts, we see several examples of demons able to speak through the vocal organs of the people they are occupying. The demons could and still do answer questions and carry on a conversation. Normally we regard the ability to speak as a distinctive mark of personality.
Demons display a wide range of character traits. Some are vicious, violent, supernaturally strong. Others are weak, cowering, even ridiculous - characteristics one would not expect to find in a demon, which is a fallen angel.
Where did demons come from?
If mankind, Adam and Eve, had never sinned, we would never have been vulnerable to demons. From the beginning, ever since man, Adam and Eve, turned from God in rebellion, all males and females born have been subjected to two main spiritual evils: sin and demons.
Where do demons live?
Each demon desires to express himself through a human body, preferably yours. A demon is not happy unless he has a human body, again, preferably yours. Because demons do not possess physical bodies of their own, demons seek to inhabit or use the bodies of humans or animals.
How do demons work?
God can be everywhere at the same time. Satan cannot be everywhere at the same time. Since satan was booted out of heaven, there has been a fight for dominion. Satan tries to accomplish his goal of dominion of your life through demons since he cannot be everywhere at the same time.
He, satan, dispenses or assigns his demons or demonic spirits to babies in the womb, people, you, your family, your church, cities, denominations, governments, countries, hospitals, institutions, leaders, through music, through television, through drugs, through immoral sex, through perverted sex, through alcohol, etc. In very simple terms, God represents the light or the good and satan represent the dark or the bad. Just as God and His Holy Spirit is active daily, so is satan and his demons or demonic forces and principalities.
What can I do about demons?
There is an urgent need for Christians to learn all we can about the nature and activity of demons. This knowledge is important for all believers, since none of us can claim immunity from the attacks of demons.
It is especially important for pastors and other Christians certified in integrated healing & deliverance to be trained and available for each Christian who desires help. Only with trained, revelatory knowledge are those called to healing and deliverance able to make a correct diagnosis and apply the appropriate remedy so Christians can experience freedom ministered by the Holy Spirit.
Are demons associated with illnesses or health challenges?
Many sicknesses are actually caused by demons, and they should be treated as such. Let's look at a scriptural example where this actually happened.
In Luke 4: 38 – 39, it reads "And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them."
If this fever was only a physical problem, then how foolish to rebuke it! It makes no sense whatsoever to rebuke an inanimate thing. One can only rebuke something having intelligence, and Jesus knew that a spirit caused this fever. The fever left Peter's mother-in-law because it had to obey Jesus' authoritative command.
How many demons are there?
The Bible specifically names many, many demons and there are also categories of demons based on their function. For example, if a person [illegitimately] controls things and people, the specific demon in the Bible that's operating in this person is the Jezebel demon [you understand that Jezebel is really a super stronghold because four demons make up the Jezebel head.]
When you are engaged in spiritual warfare, it is important to know your enemy. Part of spiritual warfare is getting rid of your demons on a lasting, permanent basis. Demons manifest themselves through you, your family and your church members under many different names. The following evil spirits, demons, or devils are mentioned in the scriptures, but this list is not exhaustive. Each one is a personality, and the word used expresses their nature:
The nature of specific demons shown in the Old Testament that remain active today.
Jealousy/feelings of jealousy - Numbers 5:14, 30
Ill will/evil - Judges 9:23
Distressing/evil - I Samuel 16:14-23; 18:10; 19:9

Deep sleep - Isaiah 29:10
Heaviness/fainting/despair - Isaiah 61:3
Harlotry/prostitution - Hosea 4:12; 5:4
Unclean/unclean/impurity - Zechariah 13:2
Familiar - Deuteronomy 18:11
Sorrowful - I Samuel 1:15
The nature of specific demons shown in the New Testament that are still active today.
Mute/robbed of speech/Deaf and dumb/ deaf and mute - Mark 9:17; 9:25
Infirmity/causing sickness/ crippling - Luke 13:11
Divination/predicting the future - Acts 16:16
Deceiving/deceitful - I Timothy 4:1
Fear/timidity - II Timothy 1:7
Error/falsehood - I John 4:6
Unclean - Matthew 10:1
Divination - Acts 16:16
Bondage - I John 4:6
Deceiving - I Timothy 4:1
Error - I John 4:6
Death - Hebrews 2:14-15
Are there new demons?
No, there are not new demons. The demons established in the Bible are it, but that's a whole lot of them! Demons can take on many, many, many manifestations in each person's life.
How do you identify demons?
The easiest way to identify a demon is by how it manifest in your life. There are many lists of demons, strongholds and generational curses. Again, the easiest way to identify each demon in your life is by how it manifests in your life. For example, one lady was severely overweight and she struggled with her weight for years. When she came for healing and deliverance, the demon was simply identified as the sugar demon. See how simple that is.
Why are so many Christians scared of demons?
Christians are scared of demons because:
a) you may not understand your authority based on scripture - An excerpt of Luke 10:18-19 reads, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Christians are scared of demons because:
b) you may have a fear of using your authority once you know your authority; fear is a stronghold that is controlled by the demonic.
Christians are scared of demons because:
c) you may believe the authority the scripture states is for all other believers except you; this unbelief is a stronghold that is controlled by the demonic.
Christians are scared of demons because:
d) you may be deceived into thinking the demons active in your life will not obey your command when you use your authority; this is a lie. Satan is the father of lies. Demons are under the leadership of satan. So, this lie you believe is from what, the demonic.
Christians are scared of demons because:
e) you may not understand your position based on scripture - An excerpt of Romans 8: 16-18 reads that you are the child of God and a joint-heir with Christ.
Christians are scared of demons because:
f) you may choose not to exercise your authority daily; angelic and demonic activity take place 24-hours a day. As a Christian, you are automatically enrolled in a battle known as spiritual warfare. There are only two positions in this Christian battle, offense and defense. Most Christians choose, by default, to live their lives operating on the defense and in response mode. Most Christians choose to be passive in the battle. Why are you passive? Because your church does not regularly teach and train the church body and regularly teach and train those called to healing & deliverance how to engage in spiritual warfare daily.
Christians are scared of demons because:
g) you may have been deceived into thinking that demons have more power than you do -- as a child of the King who inherited all spiritual blessings. Smile -- I'll let you find this scripture reference : )
Christians are scared of demons because:
h) you may choose not to read and study your Bible regularly to be reminded of and operate daily in your God-given authority. Meanwhile, you, your family, your church and your country suffer needlessly. It really ain't that deep yall -- sorry about the incorrect language here.
Why do so many churches not teach on the demonic?
God is not interested in our church membership or denominational labels – we all use the same Holy Bible where all of these scriptures in this article can be found. No believer wants to be exposed and many of our sins, including our private, secret sins, create shame. Confidential, healing and deliverance ministry does not expose you, the person, rather it exposes the demonic strategy that’s been operating in your life and keeping you in your private bondage.
You think what you’re going through is not transparent to other believers, but it is. The Holy Spirit is still waiting on you to surrender -- at any minute of any hour of any day. You know what the beauty of confidential, integrated healing and deliverance is? It will be the last time you deal with the pain, the shame, the secrets, the coping mechanisms. You may remember, but the pain historically associated with the memories, the experience, is over!
There are three parts to the God-head: 1) God the Father; 2) God the Son; and, 3) God the Holy Spirit. In the church, we are comfortable with the first two parts of the God-head, but many churches are not comfortable with teaching and training about the third part of the God-head, the Holy Spirit.
Any church that does not teach, train and operate in the supernatural realm of the Holy Spirit and regularly teach and train those called in to healing and deliverance is a crippled church. Why is the church crippled? Because the leadership and the membership will not have an available arm of ministry where hurt people can be healed. And you know that every breathing human in the church has something the need healing and deliverance from, right? After all, the church is a hospital for the spiritually sick.
What is the purpose or goal of demons?
As stated in John 10:10, the thief [satan and his demons] come to steal from you, and to kill you, and to destroy you. This is true for every human born, which includes you and every person in your family lineage. Satan and his little demons are so pleased the more you choose to remain unlearned about him and his demons. Why does this please satan? Because he can continue to have dominion in your life or parts of your life. All the while, you continue to blame things in your life on coincidence, bad luck, you being different or you just can't stop doing something.
Why is it critical for you to understand demons as a Christian?
Picture a green plant in a flower pot. Most Christians when dealing with life’s issues deal with the symptoms. The symptoms are the green leafs on the plant. Integrated healing and deliverance deals with the roots of the plant in the flower pot that you cannot see. The green plant represents your life. The demons represent the roots of your life challenges and problems. Unless the roots of your life issues are identified and dismantled, you continue to see manifestations in your life.
Let me give you an example. Let’s say there’s a person who has a drug stronghold. Typically, you’ll hear people talk about the drugs, the lack of responsibility the person shows, how the person steals, how the person will not keep a job, etc. While all of those things are a reality, none of those symptoms are the root(s) of the person’s problem. Integrated healing & deliverance targets, identifies and dismantles the root system of your life’s problems.
What do demons hate?
Demons hate many things, but I’ll share four things. One, demons hate God. Two, demons hate believers using a heavenly prayer language because they cannot understand what’s being prayed; demons can understand you praying in English or your native language. Three, demons hate scripture, which is why scriptures must be used when actively dealing with the demonic. And four, demons hate humans, which includes you.
Demons do not play fair in your life. Demons show you, your family and your church no mercy. May I ask the next logical question? Why do you choose, by default, to exercise grace toward the very demons that are still stealing, killing and strategizing to destroy you, your family and your church? Have no mercy on demons in your life; be brutal with them in exercising your authority!
How do demons manifest or show themselves in daily life?
Click here to listen to the audio titled Some Ways Demons Enter Your Life.
How do demons relate to generational curses and strongholds?
Exodus 20:5-6 … For I The Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me.
Exodus 34:7 … visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and fourth generation.
Numbers 14:18 … visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fouth generation.
Deuteronomy 5:9 … visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.
Now, why did I share these four scriptures with you? One, because they are true because they are in the Word of God, the Holy Bible. Two, because these scriptures clearly establish generational curses.
Each of you reading this article have parents, grandparents, great grandparents and so forth. Because none of us came from perfect families, that means that both sins and iniquity were present in their lives. More than likely, most of us didn’t even know the people extending back to the 4th generations on our mom and dad’s side of the family.
One thing you must understand about God is God sees me and you as part of a family unit. We are born into a family unit and remain in a family unit until we die. You can’t get into the world bypassing a family structure. Most of us think of ourselves as an individual. I’m sorry, but that’s not how God views us. We are all connected, and initially that’s through the family structure, which links you into the generations referenced in the four scriptures above.
So, what’s the bottom line here? Did every person in your family on both sides of your family repent and confess of all their sins and iniquities. Probably not. Because each of us is born into our families, the iniquities of our parents and the other people unto the fourth generation weigh against us from our inception in the womb. What does this word iniquity mean? Iniquity is inner heart tendency from your fore fathers sins pressing, weighing, leaning against you to do the same thing [sins] they did.
Do you and I have to give in to the pressure? No, but many times we do. Why does this pressure exist? Well, satan’s job is to kill, steal and destroy your life. We know that satan doesn’t play fair, that’s a given. Well, how early should satan start working on you? As early as possible. Well, how early is that? He, satan, starts when you’re in the womb, the moment of conception plotting and strategizing on how to take you out.
Click here to listen to the audio titled Demons Entering Through The Womb. Be encouraged to listen to this; it is a good, sound, biblical teaching.
Well, how does satan know what to try on you? One thing we know about satan is he looks at what’s worked well historically, generationally in taking out your family. Since your parents, grand parents and those back to the fourth generation probably didn’t do anything about their generational curses, he automatically starts with those sins and iniquities to see if you’ll give in to the pressure and follow suit – yet adding on another generation continuing the bondage.
Well, reader, most of the time, this works so flawlessly, that satan and his demons have very little work to do in our lives. So the question for you reading this article is, what are you going to do about the operation of generational curses in your life? You can try to deny them, but that is not effective.
How do demons relate to generational curses? One way generational curses have power is they are held in place to operate through the demonic realm.
In many cases demons transmit from one family generation to the next family generation, and so forth, through a) genes; b) the environment children grow up in [we all were children at one point]; c) the universal, biblical law of sowing and reaping [that is active in every single family]; and d) demonic oppression.
Can the transference of demons occur?
Yes. In some cases, the transference occurs during a formal, ritualistic ceremonies.
How do I get demons out of my life?
Temporarily, you can bind demons and temporarily stop their mission, which is to block you from receiving God has for you. Why do I purposely use the word temporary with demons. After you bind any demon, you should complete the process by commanding each demon from your life.
If you don’t do this, then the binding process is temporary, which means each time you see the demon manifest, you’ll need to rebind. This can become laborious, so it’s just makes sense to complete the process by commanding the demon the leave. Commanding each demon active in your life will not take place until you take care of the root reason(s) that gave each of the demons entrance into your life.
Matthew 16:19 reads, And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
What are demonic voices?
As a Christian, you should know the different ways the Holy Spirit can speak. A few examples of how the Holy Spirit speaks to us are following:
a) in a still small voice, Acts 9: 3 – 7; b) by external or outward visions, Joshua 5: 13 – 15; c) with dreams, Daniel 2; d) through and inward vision, John 8:38; e) via personal prophecy [that should be tested and prophecy can be conditional], I Corinthians 12: 7 - 11; f) illumination of scripture; g) hearing His voice audibly, I Samuel 3:10; or h) in any way He chooses.
Remember these are only a few ways you can hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Many times many, many, many Christians are challenged in hearing the Holy Spirit in their daily lives. Why?
a) Unrepented or unconfessed sin hinders you from hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit
b) You feeling unworthy to hear the voice of the Lord;
c) You being afraid [fear] to hear the voice of the Lord;
d) You don’t even believe you, as a Christian, are able to hear the voice of the Lord, so this is boldface unbelief.
e) Not spending regular, daily, intimate time with the Holy Spirit makes His voice foreign to you. As in every relationship, we learn to recognize someone’s voice by hearing it over and over again. This is even true for the Lord’s voice.
John 10: 4 – 5, 16 – When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice … They too will listen to my voice …
f) Your unexpressed disappointment or anger towards the Lord can hinder you from hearing His voice.
g) The presence of demons operating in your life block your spiritual eyes and ears. There are certain demons that specialize in trying to prevent our receiving anything from God.
h) Read I Samuel 3:2-10 where Samuel did not recognize the voice of the Lord
How do demons strategize?
One strategy demons use is to see what has worked successfully on those in your family lineage – particularly your parents, grand parents, and so forth. If no one in your family line has broken the generational curses held in place by the demonic, the curses continue.
A biochemist once explained to Derek Prince, "A human body is attacked regularly by cancerous cells. When that body is healthy, its immune system identifies and attacks the cancerous cells, and they are unable to harm the body. But when the body has been weakened by illness or some kind of emotional shock, the immune system is unable to do its job effectively, and some form of cancer can develop somewhere in the body."
Immediately Derek Prince said to himself, that's just how it is with demons!
A second strategy demons use | Demons continually seek to invade you, but when you are spiritually healthy, the spiritual immune system within you identifies and attacks the demons, and they are not able to move in and take control of you. Any kind of unhealthiness or emotional weakness on the other hand, makes you vulnerable to demonic attack.

You may have read or heard of news articles about aluminum being a possible cause of Alzheimer’s disease, paranoia and learning disabilities. Alzheimer's disease robs one of memory and life. It has to be one of the most terrible and dehumanizing things that torments our modern society.
Aluminum has a special affinity or liking for the brain and nervous system and heads straight for them. This pollutes and interrupts their function. Herbal practitioners have also confirmed that the glandular functions of many men and women have been restored when aluminum contamination is flushed from the body.
Many baffling and confusing conditions that have not responded to anything all of a sudden clear up. You may ask, ‘Where does all this aluminum contamination come from?’
That is a fair question. Here are a few of the most common sources: soda pop, beer, etc. in aluminum cans, baking powder used in our baked goods, aluminum drying agents in powdered food to prevent caking, aluminum cookware, baked potatoes and other foods baked in aluminum, over-the-counter preparations for upset stomach that contain aluminum-hydroxide, industrial manufacturing processes that dump aluminum into our air and water and don’t forget one of the worst things for a woman’s body, underarm antiperspirants made with aluminum-chlorhydrate.
You have to figure whatever you put under your arm will wind up in the breasts and other parts of the body. You can see this is especially bad for women, and imagine the problems it can cause with the breasts. Put another way, we can safely say that most cancers in the body are caused by poisons.
Perhaps a little aluminum now and then does no great harm, but constant use of it, especially from so many man-made resources, can constitute a health threat. It is not just people who suffer from aluminum poisoning.
You hear much these days about bones not being able to retain enough calcium. It may interest you to know that aluminum competes with calcium for absorption in the body and lowers the female hormone, estrogen. Our dogs and cats fall prey to this aluminum contamination as well.
Manufacturers of pet food, especially the dry type in bits, commonly use aluminum to keep it dry. Interestingly enough, despite all the piles of scientific evidence from animal hair and skin analyses, our Food and Drug Administration and the National Institute for Health have shown no interest in investigating this situation.
If you notice that your pet has dry lusterless hair, is listless, has no energy, chewing wallboards and such and attempting to catch unseen things in the air, suspect aluminum poisoning. Their blood tests quite often show, along with aluminum, pancreas, liver and kidney damage. Home-made dog foods can help a lot.
For people and pets, the use of sea vegetables, especially one known as Bladderwrack, does wonders for flushing aluminum out of the body. This can be added to one’s diet rather easily. For a person, 10 to 40 drops of a type of algae, liquid Bladderwrack [known as an extract] or one to four capsules per meal.
And for a pet, depending on size, one to ten drops per meal or one to four capsules per day. While you are detoxifying dangerous metals, it may also be wise to keep in mind using still another type of algae. Chlorella can be used to detoxify heavy metals such as mercury or lead. Where you find one type of metal poisoning, you often find others.
Chlorella can be taken in the same amounts as Bladderwrack. Please be patient. It may take awhile, even months, but at least it is comforting to know you are on the right road. Is it any wonder that our bodies have become polluted as we have polluted the earth with our modern drive for profit and better living through chemistry? Thank the Creator that herbal remedies have been provided for the relief of maladies of our own making!
Remember When and Golden Days are Pure Herbs that are useful in removing metals/aluminum from the body.

We thank God for Dr. W who saved our friend from dialysis. With the diagnosis of a shrinking kidney and possible dialysis, Dr. W advised us to rub the Pure Herb Arnica on the skin over the kidney area on the lower back for any nerve damage, the Pure Herb Herbal Adjustment for circulation, the Pure Herb Vitamin E with Selenium for oxygenation and the Pure Herb Black Cohosh to remove any poison.
Also, so soak absorbent gauze or cheese cloth with the Pure Herb Ol' Number 11 to lay on the area and cover it with plastic wrap and repeat for a day time application.
Within a week, there was noticeable improvement. Within two weeks voiding began with copious amounts. Her remardk was, "I'm going like a race horse."
Within three weeks the pain was gone. By the way, this lady is in her 90s and never expected a recovery like this! She is rejoicing in the new found health.
Thank you Dr. W. May God bless you!

Scriptures: Matthew 6: 31 – 33; Psalm 37:4
Have you ever allowed petty differences to interfere with relationships? Marriages are breaking up and churches are breaking up and fellowship groups are breaking up and prayer partnership groups are breaking up Over petty things where people are not mature enough to say when it’s all said and done, “I need you.”
You will run into Christian people and non-Christian people who inadvertently disrespect you or inadvertently make you feel bad.
Let’s take a look at Hannah in I Samuel, chapters 1 and 2, who’s making her annual trip to Shiloh.
According to scripture, Hannah has been weeping, praying and pouring out her heart to the Lord.
Her mouth continues to move; Hannah’s voice is just above a whisper.
Since you’re probably familiar with this scripture, you remember that Eli thought that Hannah was drunk because he saw her lips moving and she wasn’t speaking to anybody else. Eli could not figure out why Hannah was murmuring to herself. In what Eli had experienced in his life, the only reason a person muttered to herself or himself, was they’d had some wine.
Eli made a presumption about Hannah.
Okay, the key word here is presumption.
Eli assumed what he thought, was so, based on what he saw -- that is, what he presumed about Hannah.
Eli drew conclusions about Hannah without having any facts.
Has anyone made presumptions about you and been wrong?
Has anyone disrespected you and been dead wrong?
Has anyone thought they knew what you were thinking, didn’t check with you to substantiate the facts, and they were wrong?
Have you ever had somebody look at you and based on what they think they see, then reach conclusions and operate on assumptions about you – they even begin to talk to other people about you based on presumptions.
You are aware there are some people who decide they know what is going on in your life based on what they think they perceive.
Now remember, Eli was a called man of God.
He was anointed and appointed by God – this is very important to remember.
Presumption has no place in the kingdom of God, and Eli, a man of God in a position of authority, presumed.
When you presume to know what people are thinking, When you presume why they are doing something, When you presume what’s really in their hearts, you dishonor the integrity of these very people.
Eli said to Hannah, a precious woman of God, “How long have you been drunk? Get rid of your wine.” Eli did not ask Hannah any questions to gather facts and to be respectful of her.
He did not ask, “Have you had some liquor Hannah [this one time]?” He did not ask, “Do you drink regularly?” He did not ask, “Are you in a drunken state Hannah; I’m concerned about you?” Eli presumed Hannah had been a habitual drinker. Now -- if we’re remotely honest, most of us would have been insulted and offended, especially since Hannah was tarrying before the Lord.
Can’t you just imagine how Hannah could have felt?
Do you wanna know why I had to type this article for you, beloved reader? Do you wanna know why I so respect Hannah, dear reader who’s still being healed and delivered just like me?
Hannah was focused. Hannah was so focused, she didn’t forget her purpose. Hannah was so focused, she chose not to operate in offense. Hannah was so focused, she chose to interact with Eli in a posture of l-e-g-i-t-i-m-a-t-e submission. Key word = l-e-g-i-t-i-m-a-t-e. Hannah was so focused, she remembered and let Eli know that she needed him to achieve her goal.
Beloved reader, you can’t afford to take the well-intentioned people in your life and begin to set them aside, and break fellowship and relationship with them, so that you end up isolated and unto yourself. The enemy knows when you are walking by yourself, you can get ambushed. You and I are prime prey for the enemy when we isolate and withdraw.
When we have Christian companions walking with us, the enemy has to think twice about attacking us. He knows the power of agreement. He knows the power of unity. He, satan and his demons, takes the good intentions of people that cause us to be so offended and cause us to feel so disrespected that we dis-fellowship with these Christian and non-Christian people. Oouchh! Ecclesiastes 4
Beloved reader, some of the people who are getting on your nerves, not all of them are your enemies. Some of them are people God has brought into your life, but you have to learn how to navigate. For example, Peninnah, was a bona fide enemy of Hannah. Eli was not Hannah's enemy, although she could have easily chosen to exclude or distance him from her life. Hannah knew Eli was a divinely appointed person in her life.
Beloved reader, building good, solid relationships is not easy. You know this, I know. Don’t let taking flight, be your first tendency. It takes work, on your behalf, to be big enough, to be mature enough, to work through some of these l-e-g-i-t-i-m-a-t-e offenses. And yes, the person, the people, were wrong.
We need the imperfect Christian people, God has appointed in our lives. We need the imperfect Christian people, who will presume sometimes and come to us in attack mode. We need one another desperately. You need the support of those God has raised up to be in your life – to achieve your destiny, to get through this mental valley your in.
Do you have enough grace in you, to initiate the process and go get the issue straight with the person? If you don't, let's ask the Holy Spirit to impart more grace to us for a specific issue with a specific person. Oouch!
As Christians, the last place we expect to be disrespected is in the church and by church members.
But may I share something with you beloved reader, the majority of Christians who come for personal, confidential, integrated healing and deliverance ministry, have been disrespected or even abused repeatedly by Christians in leadership positions either in the local church or in the marketplace i.e. your neighborhood, your professional groups, your workplace, your exercise partners, your family, etc.
If you’ve not read I Samuel 1 – 2, be encouraged to read it so you can know how Hannah respectfully and calmly explained to Eli her issue, her condition and her need of his help in her life. Hannah even goes a step farther, and reconciles. Oouch!

By Dr. David Kyle Foster
1. Masturbation can be the vehicle whereby the inhibited person maintains their propensity to remain self-contained and in need of no one. It deepens the trenches of loneliness, self-pity and self-centeredness.
2. Masturbation is a turning in on one's self -- a narcissistic neurosis that feeds introspection and other dysfunctional directions. This kind of inwardly focused life robs people of the fullness of life that Christ came to give.
3. Masturbation can become a gateway for demonic strongholds to develop. This becomes more and more likely as one delves deeper and deeper into pornography and perverse sexual fantasies.
4. This behavior serves to program the mind to focus on fantasy as the source of pleasure rather than the biblical model of union with one's spouse. People come to be seen as objects rather than real people. It is an elaborate scheme of the enemy [satan and his demons] to keep us from learning how to be intimate with our spouse and our God.
5. When someone takes up the practice of masturbation, they are programming themselves to turn to solutions that block or hide problems rather than solve them. This immature life-pattern for problem-solving is highly dysfunctional and is the foundation upon which is laid a lifetime of addictive behavior.
6. Masturbation has a physically addictive side to it that serves to block pain. The chemicals that are released into the brain serve to medicate pain much like any addictive drug. God wants us to bring our pain to Him. He wants us to grow through it and receive the blessing of sharing in the sufferings of Christ.
7. Masturbation is a task master that demands the continual plumbing of new and more perverse depths of lust. On that treadmill, the mind is programmed to more and more highly delineated sexual fantasies, which the marriage bed can never match. Normal marital relations become a disappointment and the design for sex thwarted. The body also becomes programmed to achieve release quickly, which serves to frustrate the patterns of healthy sexual intercourse between spouses.
8. A clutching at the genitals by infants is often a manifestation of separation anxiety, but that same behavior in childhood is often a sign of sexual abuse or some other cause for significant internal anxiety in the child. If the child uses a mirror during the act, that is a scenario that can result in homosexual confusion, as the child programs their mind to associate sexual pleasure with the sight of their own body. [In such cases, other factors that lead to homosexual neurosis are probably also present, such as molestation or failure to bond on an emotional level with the same-sex parent]. Adolescent experimentation at puberty is normal and not a cause for alarm unless it becomes habitual.
What does the Bible Say?
One of the most prevalent rationalizations that people use is that the Bible never mentions masturbation and that it must therefore be alright. Is that logical? Is child molestation alright then? It's not specifically forbidden in the Bible. How about shooting heroin? Or how about torturing someone? Not mentioned! You see how illogical the argument quickly becomes.
How do we know that smoking dope is against the will of God, for example? We discover the answer by uncovering the principles found in scripture - most specifically those concerning the body being the temple of the Holy Spirit and those commanding us to obey governmental authority. We also know sin by the witness of the Holy Spirit within, provided we haven't quenched that witness through ongoing rebellion.
The most obvious biblical principle that is applicable to masturbation is found in Matthew 5:28 where Jesus indicates that lusting after someone in the heart is the same as actually doing it. I am violating whomever I am picturing in my mind during the act of masturbation. It really doesn't matter whether it is a picture from a magazine, [Those are real people!], or someone I've met or a memory of some act committed in the past.
And if I can discipline my mind to think of no one, what of that?
Attainment of such focus only serves to make obvious the desperation and obsession that drives us to such lengths. The principles found in I Corinthians 6:12; II Peter 2:19; and Romans 6:14 clearly emerge as foundational to our plight -- that we are slaves to whatever masters us. When we get truly honest about the habit of masturbation, it is clear that it is a behavior that controls us -- one that we use to medicate pain, to alleviate stress or to forget rejection. In that way, it is similar to a drug habit -- just one more vehicle to avoid turning to God.
Why won't we turn to God? We may be ashamed. We may believe that He's going to judge and punish us. We may not trust Him. Or, it simply may never occur to us. We don't normally see God as being involved in the fulfillment of our sexual lives. He's a Spirit after all and we are physical creatures. And yet, He is in fact the answer to every problem. He can quench our unholy desire and He can teach us to respond to problems by working through them rather than from running from them.
Confessing the Right Things
It is important that I discover the root sin issues so that I can repent of them. If I am unaware of one or more of these strongholds, I will inevitably remain bound because my unrepented sin will continue to give Satan ground to hold me in bondage. Much of the transformation process involves discovering where Satan's ground is and removing it with the tools that God has provided. What then are some of the root sin issues that need to be confessed?
1. Unbelief
Unbelief Is the doubt that God is really good. When I sin any sin, I am in that moment doubting that God is really there for me, that He cares, and therefore, that He is good. I am re-enacting the first sin committed in the Garden of Eden, when Eve became convinced that God was keeping from her something that was good.
The truth is, God has something better than the coping mechanism of masturbation -- even for the single person. He has something higher, something that will bring completion and satisfaction to one's sexual self. It is this truth that is most effective in being persuaded to forsake the sin.
2. Idolatry
Ephesians 5:3-5 clearly teaches that sexual immorality is a form of idolatry. Often masturbation becomes a source of life and peace, especially for those who have lived through great pain. It becomes a substitute god. Should the Spirit come to offer freedom, many will recoil in terror at the realization that they are being asked to live without something that has been a primary source of peace in their lives - something that has kept them from falling apart. The behavior becomes so entrenched in their sense of being that life without it becomes unimaginable.
Like the worship of any god, masturbation has its own fetish objects and rituals -- times, places, triggers, ritual objects, and ritual patterns that draw the person into an almost trance-like progression toward the peak experience and denouement. Confessing the ritual worship and removing or renouncing its various components is key to seeing its power broken.
3. Rebellion
Sometimes we simply refuse to listen to the Holy Spirit or pretend not to hear Him. The self-care of masturbation often cloaks anger and distrust of God, who never seemed to be there when we needed Him. Often in childhood, when God doesn't rescue us or change us upon demand, we judge Him in our hearts and develop a root of anger that must be removed through confession and repentance. That means we acknowledge our rebellion and make concerted choices to love Him and to believe that given the context of human free will, God operates with complete integrity and love.
4. Love of Sin
This one is often buried under mounds of rationalizations. We pretend that we need to practice the sin, we deserve to practice it, it's the least God can do to allow it considering what we've gone through, etc. But the truth is, we love it more than we love God. In order to change this, we need to discover how to love God more. Greater love for God comes as a fruit of taking the time to know Him intimately. A lifestyle of worship is important. The demonic realm cannot stand that. Meditating on the Cross is also a major key. As we gain a deeper appreciation for our Lord's suffering, we become more willing to jettison the things that have charmed us most [as the old hymn says]. When tempted, we only need ask ourselves, Who do I love right now - the sin that is tempting me, or the One who loves me so deeply that He died on the Cross for me? Put that way, the choice becomes far easier to make.
5. Self-deception
It is a humbling thing to realize that over the years we become masters at deceiving ourselves into believing we want freedom from something that we will not give up. Like an onion, we lay down layer upon layer of self-deception, saying the right religious words and thinking the right religious thoughts, while still refusing to forsake the desire for the sin that lingers in our hearts. We need to acknowledge before God the ongoing impurity in our motivation, the depravity in our heart, and our need for Him to give us the true heartfelt desire to be holy and pure.
6. Performance-righteousness
Most of us, even those who know better, continually fall into this trap. Though we talk of grace alone and being able to do nothing without Christ, our fallen nature continuously seduces our minds into believing that we must earn God's love and acceptance and that we must develop our own righteousness. Over and over again we try to make ourselves holy and pure rather than suffer the humiliation of the flesh and truly become dependent on God for the power to live the kingdom life that He won for us on the Cross.
The Long and Winding Road to Freedom
It would be nice if God would just zap us and make us permanently free from sin and bondage. But the process of sanctification is often arduous. Through it we learn to value the end result, depend on Him, love Him, trust Him, hate evil and give all glory, praise and honor to God and God alone.
The foundational principles by which our Lord sets us free from masturbation are no different than those for any other sin and bondage. Simply put, set your focus on Him [rather than your problem] and let His Spirit guide you the rest of the way. In moments of intimacy with Him, God will lead you through a complete shift in your priorities. He will transform your affections and belief systems. He will deepen your desire and determination to be liberated. He will expose and heal the hidden emotional and sin problems that have fed your bondage. And He will strengthen your willingness to believe and to act on His promises.
1. Learn to give yourself grace. It took you a long time to develop the problem, so in moments of failure, turn and receive the love and grace of God. He is pleased with you because of Christ's sacrifice on your behalf and because deep in your heart, you loved Him enough to commit your life to His Son. God has grace to spare. In fact, it is His grace in the midst of our failure that ultimately yields the fruit of obedience [Titus 2:11-14].
2. Permanently set your heart and mind to turn to God at the first moment of temptation and with acknowledged weakness and dependency, cry out to Him for His power to quench the fiery darts of the enemy. Commit to being ruthless with temptation -- giving it no place. Let Christ answer the door when it comes knocking!
3. Remove every influence that leads you into desiring and repeating the behavior. Ask God to show you what these are. Break the ritual patterns and remove the ritual objects as God reveals them to you.
4. Practice believing that God has something better -- that He can indeed fulfill the needs that are temporarily being met through the illegitimate means of masturbation.
5. Spend significant, quality time with God in praise, worship, prayer and scripture reading. Pour out your heart to Him. Develop the same intimate relational knowing of God that you would with a spouse. Ask Him to implant within your mind a healthy view of sex and the sexuality of others. Ask Him to give you a love of purity, seeking Him passionately in the beauty of His holiness [Psalm 96:9]. Listen to Him as He unlocks for you the unique keys to your transformation. Listen with a heart set on obeying His direction no matter what He may suggest.
6. Refuse to submit to Satan's barrage of self-condemning thoughts when you fall. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus [Romans 8:1]. Call any thought or feeling to the contrary the lie that it is and reject it. Repent and then run back into your Daddy's arms.
7. Learn what God really thinks of you by meditating on the Cross. Reject the lies of self-hatred, loathing and shame that are in actuality, elaborate challenges to the Cross of Christ and the promises of God.
Know that God has the will and the power to set anyone free from anything. Go for the free indeed promise. Seek not the maintenance program of the world, but the transformation program of the kingdom of God!
